Biography

Dan James PhotoDaniel James (aka Dan Untitled) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Wellington. With a creative practice that spans over ten years, his work traverses audio and video, robotics, performance, installation art, and interactive electronics. Career highlights include a human scale robot installed at Prague Quadrennial 2015 (New Zealand national pavillion), networked (NZ/UK) audiovisual performances at Museum of Modern Art Oxford and Goldsmiths College, co-curating the multi-city UpStage festivals of online performance for three years, and co-producing the open source film project Stray Cinema (London/Barcelona). Locally in New Zealand he has recently mapped projections onto a heritage building at Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT, Auckland), presented an interactive anaglyph 3D artwork at Digital Art Live (Auckland), and presented a live audiovisual piece projected onto the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa (as part of Performance Arcade, Wellington). Dan holds a PhD in Fine Arts specialising in audiovisual remix performance.
